Ribbon Cutting at Red River Court Honoring Mr. Melvin Vaughn Sr.

 

GALLATIN, Tenn., November 15, 2023 - Gallatin Housing Authority's (GHA) Board of Commissioners, Executive Staff, and Community leaders are excited to announce naming the new Red River Court's Street in honor of Mr. Melvin Vaughn Sr., for his commitment, and service to the Gallatin Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners. 

 

Mr. Melvin Vaughn Sr. was born and raised in Gallatin, Tenn.  He graduated from the historic African American landmark high school, Union High.  Mr. Vaughn will be the first African American male from the GHA Board of Commissioners to have a street named in his honor.  He served as a distinguished board member for Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County for over ten years, and a dedicated board of commissioner for the Gallatin Housing Authority after his appointment to the board in 2002. He was a pillar of the Gallatin community.  Mr. Vaughn sadly passed away in 2017, leaving behind an impeccable reputation and legacy as a public servant.   

 

The street dedication's address is 248 Womack Circle, Gallatin, TN., 37066, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.  Red River Court development will include eight duplexes built with a mixture of bricks and stones, sixteen spacious one-bedroom apartments, and features the latest market-style amenities.  GHA designed two apartments to meet ADA handicapped requirements for persons with disabilities.
